Gov. Shapiro signs $50.8 billion compromise budget, despite some opposition in both parties
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro signed a $50.8 billion budget package on Sunday. The deal spends $2.4 billion less than Shapiro sought and excludes the legalized recreational cannabis program and skill games regulations he wanted. But it includes $920 million more for eduction, and an increase to the pensions of teachers who retired before 2001.
