Karnataka's plans for the Tumakuru industrial node are moving forward, with state Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil announcing that land acquisition is progressing smoothly and the project remains on course for completion in 2027, according to The Hindu. The expansion involves a 1,736-acre land acquisition to grow the Tumakuru Industrial Manufacturing Hub, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine. Patil made the remarks while speaking virtually at the third meeting of the Apex Monitoring Authority of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, The Hindu BusinessLine detailed. The same meeting also drew Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri, The Hindu reported. The high-level attendance underscores the national importance attached to the industrial corridor push in which Tumakuru sits. While neither outlet carried a direct quote from Patil, The Hindu described the acquisition as progressing smoothly, a signal that bureaucratic hurdles have not slowed the timeline. The 2027 completion target, along with the sheer scale of the land parcel, points to a project intended to anchor manufacturing activity in the region. Both reports frame the node as part of the broader National Industrial Corridor Development effort, with The Hindu BusinessLine emphasizing the expansion of the existing hub. The alignment between state and Union officials at the meeting suggests the Tumakuru project remains a shared priority.
