Study finds high rates of liver steatosis in young women referred for PMOS, but common screening tools miss fibrosis
A cross-sectional study of 95 young women referred to an endocrinology clinic for evaluation of polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS, formerly PCOS) found high rates of steatotic liver disease. However, two commonly used noninvasive screening tools failed to identify most patients with liver fibrosis. The research was presented at a medical conference in Chicago.
