Young people transformed the mental health conversation, so why can’t we hear them?

We asked young people aged 18–24 about their experiences at work, and what they told us is striking. Nearly 43% report high stress from feeling unable to speak up at work – almost double the rate of older colleagues. And one in three of them has considered quitting because they do not feel safe at work. Young people bring fresh perspectives and ways of working that organisations need, and with youth unemployment already rising, retaining this talent is becoming increasingly important. The business case for getting this right is clear – and psychological safety is where it starts.
