Eriksen Heads Home to Denmark for Rehabilitation Following Recent Collapse

Christian Eriksen will begin an individual rehabilitation program in Denmark after collapsing during a recent international friendly, according to multiple reports. The 34-year-old Wolfsburg midfielder was playing for Denmark against Ukraine last month when he fell to the ground, marking his second major on-field health scare in four years.
"He collapsed clutching his chest in frightening scenes."
The incident revived memories of Eriksen’s cardiac arrest during Euro 2021, after which he had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) installed to detect dangerous heart rhythms, as reported by mirror.co.uk. His current collapse, though less severe, prompted immediate medical attention and a period of evaluation.
Wolfsburg issued a brief statement on Thursday confirming the next steps, as carried by Medicine Hat News. The club said it "remains in regular contact with Christian and the doctors overseeing his treatment" and that Eriksen would now rehabilitate in his native country.
"We continue to wish Christian all the best and will provide further updates when appropriate."
The Independent noted that Eriksen collapsed during the friendly with Ukraine, while BBC reported he will “begin rehabilitation at home in Denmark.” The move allows Eriksen to be closer to his family and medical team as he recovers, with Wolfsburg pledging to stay in close touch with his doctors. No timeline has been given for his return to training.
