Republican county commissioners in northwest Utah fast-tracked approval for the Stratos project, a $100 billion, 40,000-acre hyperscale data center backed by Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary, Rolling Stone reported. The Verge noted the facility would be more than twice the size of Manhattan and aims to establish American AI dominance. According to Rolling Stone, the 9-gigawatt facility would consume twice as much electricity as the entire state of Utah currently uses, and the approval process blocked public comment from hundreds of angry local residents who oppose the project.
