Waze rolled out five new features in its latest update, including motorcycle mode and personalized navigation, ZDNet reported. The update is designed to enhance flexibility and reduce driver distractions, giving users more control over their driving experience.
"None of these new Waze features is offered in Apple Maps."
That distinction could be a deciding factor for iPhone users who have stuck with Apple’s mapping app by default. The author of the ZDNet report, a longtime Apple Maps user, said they are now considering switching to Waze for certain trips after these additions.
The five new features also include fewer interruptions, according to ZDNet, which may help Waze attract drivers who want a less cluttered interface. The personalized navigation option allows users to tailor routes and alerts to their preferences, something Apple Maps does not currently offer.
"The new features aim to enhance flexibility and reduce driver distractions."
By targeting both safety and customization, Waze is positioning itself as a strong alternative even for those deeply embedded in Apple’s ecosystem. The update gives drivers more reasons to test the app, especially for trips where specific modes like motorcycle navigation matter.
