Vermillion County commissioners reject proposal to restrict large solar projects
The Vermillion County Board of Commissioners voted to reject a proposed text amendment that would have removed large solar power plants as a permitted use under the Unified Development Ordinance. The amendment, backed by the Area Planning Commission (APC), would have required future solar projects to go through the Planned Unit Development (PUD) process for additional review. After hours of public comment and expert testimony, commissioners decided against the change and stated they will provide written reasons to the APC.
