Tyne Theatre & Opera House secures Heritage Fund backing for £7m restoration
Tyne Theatre & Opera House, a Grade I-listed venue in Newcastle, has received initial support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for the second phase of its £7m restoration project. The funding will go toward refurbishing the auditorium and stage house, and creating a second community performance space in the footprint of the former Westgate Music Hall. The first phase development funding of £522,000 marks a "transformational moment" for the historic theatre.
