Digital Extremes has pulled back the curtain on the next major content drop for its fantasy action game Soulframe, showing off the Warsong update during TennoCon 2026. The lengthy gameplay trailer, reported by Eurogamer, introduces a new quest, rideable mounts, and what the studio calls a corrupted player progression path that takes the redemption-focused RPG in a darker direction.
"This is our Spider-Man 3"
Digital Extremes framed the update as a tonal shift, with Eurogamer noting the addition of an "edgelord" progression path. Gameloop.gg described the new material as pointing toward "a darker pact that tests the fantasy RPG’s redemption theme," suggesting players will be able to embrace corruption rather than fight it.
The trailer, covered extensively by IGN, confirmed two long-awaited features: a fishing mini-game and a mount system for faster traversal. "Soulframe is coming soon to PC (Steam), with the Preludes Early Access for PC available now," IGN reported, tying the update to the game's existing early access build.
Perhaps the most unexpected reveal, Polygon highlighted, is that Warsong will let players play as a beaver character. The developers specifically reassured fans about the beaver's fate during the TennoCon presentation, confirming the character "will be okay" despite the high-stakes nature of the gameplay showcase. The quirkiness of that detail, combined with the new mount and fishing systems, paints Warsong as a mix of serious and silly.
PakGamersHub echoed the excitement, calling the Warsong update "thrilling" for fans. With the new trailer now live, players can expect the update to land later this year, bringing both lighthearted side content and a morally ambiguous progression path to Soulframe's early access journey.
