A new type of folding bicycle: This Tetra design, by a South-Korea-based company called Analog Machine Works , wears its manufacturing method on its sleeve. A network of triangulated steel tubes provide the structure, and there are no less than four hinge points. The bike folds in four planes, in order to become as compact as possible. Once folded, it's meant to be wheeled like a piece of luggage, and thus there are two baby wheels incorporated into the structure. (It's not meant to be carried, at least not for long stretches; it weighs 13kg, nearly 29 lbs.) In addition to having a compact folded size, the anonymous designer also placed an emphasis on riding comfort. To this end the bike boasts both 20" wheels and a linkage-driven hydraulic shock. Tetra has been successfully Kickstarted , with 22 days left to pledge at press time. Buy-in starts at $2,390, and they expect to ship in December.
