FX has paused production on 'The Beauty,' the television adaptation of the comic book series from Ryan Murphy and Matthew Hodgson. According to Deadline, the cast options for an additional season have been allowed to lapse, leaving the show's future uncertain. Lead actors Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall have already moved on to other commitments.
"The future of the series is uncertain."
Deadline reported that Peters is currently filming Season 13 of 'American Horror Story,' while Hall is in talks for a Netflix adaptation of a Dan Brown novel. The actor departures suggest the series may not return despite having completed only one season.
"The Beauty... is reportedly 'on pause' after one season."
According to Bleeding Cool, no official cancellation has been announced, but the pause and lapsed options point to an indefinite hiatus. The outlet noted that the show's fate remains officially unconfirmed by FX.
The series, which adapted Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley's comic about a sexually transmitted disease that makes people physically beautiful, has not been picked up for a second season. Both sources agree that the project is effectively stalled, with the network yet to comment on its long-term plans.
