Saur EnergyTERI Floats 115 MWh BESS Tender With 2 Hr Storage Across Four Delhi Grid Stationssaurenergy.comThe Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has issued a tender on behalf of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) for a 57.5 MW/115 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The project will be developed across four of BRPL's 66/11 kV grid stations within its licensed distribution area and will provide two hours of energy storage. It has sought bids on or before 27 July 2026 at The BESS project is intended to help address challenges associated with renewable energy (RE) integration. BRPL has invited bids from eligible developers for the site survey, planning, design, engineering, procurement, transportation and supply, insurance, unloading, handling, installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and operation and maintenance (O&M) of the battery energy storage system. Earlier, AmpereHour Energy, in partnership with Indigrid through their consortium Kirlokari BESS, has commissioned a battery energy storage system (BESS). This project was developed in collaboration with BSES Rajdhani Power Limited ( BRPL ) in Delhi. This deployment represented one of the first regulatory-approved BESS projects in India. Other ongoing BESS projects in Delhi include four standalone utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System ( BESS ) projects spread across South and West Delhi. Together, these projects will add 55.5 MW/111 MWh of energy storage capacity. The broader power infrastructure programme also includes the development of underground cabling in Chandni Chowk and the foundation of a 66/11 kV, 63 MVA GIS indoor grid substation at Mandoli. Scope of Work The tender covers the development of a 57.5 MW/115 MWh BESS across four grid substations: Sagarpur-DESU Colony: 30 MW/60 MWh Bindapur: 15 MW/30 MWh Hari Nagar: 7.5 MW/15 MWh G4: 5 MW/10 MWh The project will be connected to 66 kV/11 kV grid substations and contracted with the Buying Utility to provide energy storage services for charging and discharging operations. The scope of work includes site survey, planning, design, engineering, procurement, transportation and supply, insurance, unloading, handling, installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and operation and maintenance of the BESS in accordance with the tender's technical specifications. The BESS connected to the grid must be equipped with the necessary systems to monitor and record project performance. The successful bidder will also be required to provide the Buying Utility, MNRE, SLDC, NLDC, or any other designated agency with 24×7 remote access to the project's monitoring portal. The tender mandates geo-tagging of the project and requires the installation of a firewall with a minimum fire resistance rating of three hours. The Buying Utility will make payments under the monthly bill within 45 days from the date of bill submission during official working hours, to the account notified by the BESS developer. Under the tender conditions, the Buying Utility may schedule a maximum of two charge-discharge cycles per day. A charging cycle may consist of either a continuous two-hour charging period or multiple charging intervals, provided the cumulative charged energy does not exceed the rated energy capacity. Similarly, a discharge cycle may comprise a continuous two-hour discharge period or multiple intervals, with the cumulative discharged energy remaining within the rated energy capacity.
