We emphasize the hiring plan date as an official kickoff for students covered by it, but typically hundreds of judges act later in the official hiring cycle. In fact, the majority of HLS applicants who get clerkships to start right after graduation tend to get them during 3L year rather than in June between their 2L and 3L years. Alumni hiring is even more spread throughout the calendar year. For any students who applied on June 8 and are feeling antsy, this weekend may be a good time to look carefully at the hiring status of the judges to whom you applied and potentially consider a second wave of applications.
