The Swedish passport has been ranked as the world’s strongest in the Global Passport Index 2026, placing Sweden ahead of Switzerland, Finland, Germany and the Netherlands in a ranking that measures mobility, investment opportunities and quality of life. Published by Global Citizen Solutions, the index assigns Sweden a composite score of 96.05 out of 100. The ranking covers 197 countries and territories and is based on 14 indicators grouped into three weighted pillars: Enhanced Mobility, Investment and Quality of Living. Mobility accounts for 50 per cent of the final score, while investment and quality of living each account for 25 per cent. Sweden leads the Global Passport Index Sweden’s first place is not based only on visa-free travel. According to Global Citizen Solutions, the Swedish passport ranks highly because it combines broad international mobility with strong living standards and a favourable investment environment. The report places Sweden 11th in the Enhanced Mobility Index, 9th in the Investment Index and 2nd in the Quality of Living Index. This balance gives Sweden the highest overall score, even though other countries lead individual categories.
