SpaceXAI launches Grok 4.5, its most advanced AI model yet for coding and agentic tasks

SpaceXAI has introduced Grok 4.5, calling it its most advanced artificial intelligence model yet and bolstering its push into enterprise AI and software development tools amid intensifying competition among top AI companies.The company said Grok 4.5 is built primarily for coding and agentic AI tasks and includes improvements in reasoning, efficiency and software development workflows. The model can be accessed via API through Grok Build, the company’s AI coding agent, the Cursor coding platform and the SpaceXAI Console, its developer portal. It is expected to be available in the European Union from mid-July.Grok 4.5 was trained on tens of thousands of Nvidia GB300 graphics processing units, SpaceXAI said. The company said the training process focused on high-quality datasets, applying extensive filtering, deduplication and quality scoring to boost model performance.The launch also underscores the strengthening partnership between SpaceXAI and Cursor. Cursor said it had teamed up with SpaceXAI to train the new model. SpaceX said last month it would buy Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, in an all-stock deal worth $60 billion. The deal is expected to strengthen SpaceXAI’s position in the fast-growing enterprise AI coding market.SpaceXAI has set the price of Grok 4.5 at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, competitive with rival foundation models. Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.8, by comparison, is priced at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Luna is priced at $1 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens.Grok 4.5 has Opus-class performance with faster responses, better token efficiency and lower operating costs, said SpaceX CEO Elon Musk in a statement on the launch.The release was also timed ahead of OpenAI’s planned public launch of GPT-5.6 later this week, after a delay to allow for further review sought by U.S. government officials over national security concerns.Grok 4.5 is SpaceXAI’s effort to grow its footprint in the fast-moving AI market by combining proprietary foundation models with developer tools and enterprise software, thus stepping up the competition with top AI providers like OpenAI, Anthropic and others.
