SpaceXAI and AI coding platform Cursor are preparing to introduce their first jointly developed artificial intelligence model, a move that could strengthen the combined company's position in the increasingly competitive market for advanced AI systems.According to a report by The Information, the model is expected to launch as early as Wednesday. The report said the release had been postponed from an earlier timeline to improve the system's efficiency before rollout. Reuters could not independently verify the report. The upcoming model is expected to focus on high-speed information processing, positioning it against some of the latest offerings from rivals including OpenAI and Anthropic. As competition shifts beyond chatbot capabilities to enterprise-grade AI performance, efficiency and inference speed have become key differentiators for developers of foundation models.Cursor declined to comment on the report when contacted by Reuters, while SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment. The development follows SpaceXAI's acquisition of Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, in an all-stock transaction valued at $60 billion, announced in June. The deal was aimed at expanding SpaceXAI's presence in enterprise AI software, particularly in the fast-growing AI coding assistant segment. Also read: OpenAI set for wider GPT-5.6 launch after US approval: ReportCursor has emerged as one of the prominent coding-focused AI platforms but has faced limitations in scaling its models due to restricted access to large-scale computing infrastructure. The acquisition is expected to provide the company with greater computing resources while allowing SpaceXAI to strengthen its portfolio of developer-focused AI products. The planned launch also comes shortly after SpaceXAI achieved another milestone, with the company joining the Nasdaq-100 less than a month after its stock market debut. The rapid inclusion followed revised Nasdaq eligibility rules for newly listed companies, underscoring investor interest in AI-focused businesses. If launched as expected, the model would represent the first major AI product developed under the combined SpaceXAI-Cursor organisation and signal the company's ambitions to compete more aggressively in the enterprise AI market.
