Cailabs, a French deep-tech SME that focuses on laser communication technology, secured €37 million in venture debt financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB), backed by InvestEU. They also received investment from the European Innovation Council Fund. This financing aims to support Cailabs in enhancing a proprietary laser communication technology, originally developed by the promoter, that mitigates atmospheric turbulence and enables safer, more reliable, and high-throughput communications between satellites and OGS, as well as between terrestrial points such as ship-to-ship or plane-to-drone. This technological innovation could have significant implications for Europe’s security and defence, as well as for the future of sectors such as telecommunications.
