Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated SJVN's 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project from Pachpadra, Rajasthan. In a post, SJVN said that the project will supply power to Rajasthan (500 MW), Uttarakhand (200 MW), and Jammu & Kashmir (300 MW). The 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project has been developed by SJVN through its renewable energy arm, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), in Bikaner , Rajasthan. The project achieved commercial operation in December 2025. Bhupender Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN said that power from the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project is supplied at a maximum fixed usage charge of ₹2.57 per unit. Developed with an investment of approximately ₹5,492 crore across nearly 5,000 acres, the project is India's largest single EPC solar project under the Domestic Content Requirement ( DCR ) category. The project is expected to generate approximately 2,454.84 million units of electricity during its first year of operation and around 56,482.14 MU of clean energy over its 25-year operational life. Supporting domestic manufacturing, the project utilises approximately 24.22 lakh domestically manufactured DCR solar modules and around 175 crore indigenous solar cells , thereby promoting domestic manufacturing and strengthening the indigenous renewable energy ecosystem. Beyond clean energy generation, the project has contributed meaningfully to regional socio-economic development. During its construction and commissioning phases, it generated more than 2,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities and continues to support livelihoods during its operational phase. The project has also facilitated the development of critical infrastructure, including roads, transmission systems, and associated facilities, accelerating the overall growth of the Bikaner region. SJVN Installs 4,196.5 MW Project With 123km Transmission SJVN, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, presently has an installed capacity of 4,196.5 MW and operates two transmission lines with a combined length of 123 kilometres. SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) initially completed the trial run of a 241.77 MW solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan . It commissioned Phase I of the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project, completed on March 31, 2025. The capacity is currently operational and is set to achieve a Commercial Operation Date (COD) on April 2, 2025. This 1,000 MW project was scheduled for full commissioning by September 30, 2025.
