Phoebe Bridgers' record label imprint Saddest Factory is being merged back into its parent label Dead Oceans following a trademark dispute, as announced via Instagram on June 14. The imprint, launched in 2020 under Dead Oceans (part of the Secretly Group), will see all future releases by its artists now released under Dead Oceans, according to Pitchfork.
"All future releases by Saddest Factory artists will now be released under Dead Oceans."
Stereogum reported that the label is retiring its name due to the trademark dispute, though no details were provided about the dispute's origins. Pitchfork noted that a Michigan-based duo also named Saddest Factory exists.
Over its half-decade of existence, Saddest Factory released albums by Muna, Claud, Sloppy Jane, and others, and also extended its branding to a SiriusXM show, according to Stereogum. While the name will change, Stereogum suggested that the label's identity may persist.
