Grinding Gear Games has announced Path of Exile: Curse of the Allflame, a new expansion for the free-to-play action RPG that launches on July 24. The expansion shifts the action beneath the surface of Wraeclast, sending players on a series of oceanic expeditions.
"Embark on perilous voyages beneath Wraeclast's seas, uncover cursed treasures, and master new crafting systems powered by the Allflame."
One More Game reported that the Allflame crafting system is a central new mechanic, while IGN noted the expansion's focus on dispatching sinister horrors of the deep.
"Players can get a look at the next expansion that tasks players with dispatching sinister horrors of the deep."
IGN also confirmed that Curse of the Allflame introduces a new challenge league and an all-new endgame system. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Path of Exile itself is a free online-only action RPG developed by Grinding Gear Games in New Zealand, according to the official site. The Curse of the Allflame expansion continues the game's tradition of major seasonal content updates with a distinct nautical horror theme.
