OpenAI has begun testing advertisements in ChatGPT for users on its Free and $8-per-month Go plans in the US, The Verge reported. The ads appear as labeled "sponsored" links at the bottom of responses, and the company stated they do not influence the AI's answers, according to The Verge. Hacker News noted that OpenAI will not show ads to users under 18 during the test and cited the significant infrastructure costs of maintaining free plans. Users on higher-tier plans, including Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu accounts, will remain ad-free.
