Global EV and hybrid sales reach 25% of new car market in 2025, U.S. trails at 10%
A Pew Research Center survey finds that 32% of U.S. adults are likely to consider purchasing an electric vehicle and 44% a hybrid. Globally, 25% of new car sales in 2025 were electric or hybrid, with eight countries reaching at least 50%. The U.S. lags significantly at just 10%, well below the global average. The survey was conducted amid rising gas prices following the U.S. military conflict against Iran.
