redditOKX Replaced My BTC ($9,720) with a Worthless Token Called “OLDWBTC” – No Blockchain Record, No Consent (Ticket #21166942)reddit.comWARNING to OKX users – Possible asset substitution involving non-existent token OLDWBTC
I'm writing this to bring attention to a suspicious incident involving my Bitcoin balance on OKX. I’ve been in contact with OKX support (Ticket #21166942), and here’s what happened:
What happened: • I held approx 0.0896 BTC on OKX, accumulated since 2020. • In recent reviews of my account, I found that this BTC no longer appears in my trade/export history. • Instead, a mysterious token named “OLDWBTC”appeared in my account – worthless, unlisted, and unverifiable.
What is “OLDWBTC? I asked OKX support to explain:
•They claim it's a fork token from 2018(related to Bitcoin forks).
• They said it was distributed by the platform, not traded.
• But there's no contract address, no on-chain data, no CMC or CoinGecko entry.
• No public record or trading history exists for this token – it cannot be traded, withdrawn, or even verified.
Why this is unacceptable:
- I never consented to this BTC → “OLDWBTC” conversion.
- There is no blockchain evidence that I ever received this “forked asset”.
- The token appears to be an internal placeholder, used to substitute or freeze my BTC holdings.
- OKX continues to delay, avoid direct answers, and cannot provide on-chain TXID or proof of legitimacy.
What I lost:0.0896 BTC = approx $9,720 at today’s rate,It was silently replaced with an unverifiable asset
I have proof: 1.Full Excel exports from OKX (including funding, spot, transfer history).
2.Screenshots of my account balance, before and after.
3.Chat records with OKX support where they evade direct answers.
Unanswered questions for OKX:
1.Where is the BTC that was in my account?
2.Why did you issue a fake token to replace it?
3.Why wasn’t I informed or given the option to opt-out?
4.Are other users affected? Is this a wider issue?
If you've experienced anything similar, speak up. I will escalate this to media, regulators, and continue to expose this until I receive a valid explanation and/or restitution.
Do not let exchanges silently tamper with your funds. We need transparency, blockchain accountability, and user rights.
