NTPC Green Energy Limited ( NGEL ) has commissioned the first 50.4 MW phase of its Vanki Wind Energy Project in Gujarat, further expanding its renewable energy portfolio and taking the group's total operational capacity beyond 10.7 GW. The company announced that the first part of the capacity of the wind project, located at Vanki in Nakhatrana, Kutch district, commenced commercial operations from midnight on July 8, 2026. The project is being developed through NGEL's wholly owned subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited ( NTPC REL ). With the commissioning of the new capacity, the total installed and operational renewable energy capacity of the NTPC Green Energy group has increased to 10,721.80 MW from 10,671.40 MW. Capacity Addition Confirmed Through Regulatory Filing The company disclosed the commissioning to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. According to the filing, the newly commissioned 50.4 MW has been added to the group's operational asset base with effect from July 8, 2026. NGEL, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has been steadily expanding its renewable energy portfolio through the commissioning of utility-scale wind and solar projects across India. Renewable Energy Expansion Continues The latest commissioning adds to a series of renewable energy developments undertaken by NTPC REL in recent months as the company accelerates capacity addition across multiple clean energy segments. Earlier, NTPC REL signed a bilateral power purchase agreement (PPA) with PTC India Limited for the sale of 1,200 MW of solar power, strengthening its long-term renewable power supply portfolio. In May 2026, the company invited bids for the balance of system package for two grid-connected solar projects with a combined capacity of 900 MW at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. The development comprises a 500 MW and a 400 MW solar project.
