Not Boring Neutrals

A neutral color scheme can provide the perfect base for a stylish space. Wallpaper, paint colors, furniture, and décor in varying shades of white, cream, gray, brown, and black create laidback, livable atmospheres. How do you keep a neutral space from feeling flat and boring? Add texture and pattern! Golden Age Inspired by the work of Slim Aarons, whom over the course of a career lasting half a century, Slim Aarons (1916-2006) portrayed high society, aristocracy, authors, artists, business icons, the celebrated and their milieu. In doing so, he captured a golden age of wealth, privilege, beauty and leisure that occurred alongside—but quite separate from—the cultural and political backdrop of the second half of the Twentieth Century. Trace Grid Using the traditional Shibori method of shaped-resist dyeing, fabric is folded and tightly clamped, intentionally allowing only trace amounts of dye to seep into the exposed cloth. The resulting pattern is a dissipating grid with delicate intricacies. Bird, Monochrome Each feather that makes up the ‘Bird’ design, has been hand drawn in pen. The paper is inspired by the many varied patterns in the feathers of both the male and female pheasant and is designed to create a textural yet graphic effect on the wall.
