The peak of the heatwave we had this Wednesday has left us with an extraordinarily warm atmosphere. Temperatures have reached or exceeded 40°C in many places, even on the coast. In fact, heat records have been set again. The most notable is that of the Fabra observatory in Barcelona, which with more than 113 years of data had never reached a maximum temperature of 40.9°C, a provisional figure pending validation from the station of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona (RACAB) which shatters the record currently in force, set in July 2024, and which is slightly higher than that recorded at the Meteocat station at Fabra, which is 40.7°C, also an absolute record for this data series.
