Aggreko to build Australia's largest off-grid hybrid renewable plant for Queensland copper mine

A global energy company is building Australia's largest off-grid renewable power plant at a major copper mine in a region with no connection to the national energy network.

In Queensland, mining projects in the North West Minerals Province rely on diesel, natural gas, and solar energy to keep operating despite lacking access to the National Electricity Market.

But energy firm Aggreko has signed a deal with mining company Harmony to build its power facility at the proposed Eva Copper Mine, which is set to become the state's largest copper project.
