Environmental victory in Førdefjord case, but supply security may become new state argument
By

Summary
Environmental groups Naturvernforbundet and Natur og Ungdom have won a legal victory in the Førdefjord case, successfully opposing mining and dumping operations they've fought since 2008. While Norway's Supreme Court, the EFTA Court, and the Court of Appeals all found the state's arguments weak, a new potential challenge is emerging: supply security concerns may give the state a new argument to allow the mining operations despite the environmental rulings.
