November is National American Indian Heritage Month, a time set aside to pay tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans. NOAA’s support happens on a daily basis, as the agency is responsible for enforcing the Coastal Zone Management Act, legislation that dictates national standards for the stewardship and conservation of coastal resources. We offer a few examples of how NOAA partners with state agencies and tribes to protect the natural resources that often represent the foundation of tribal communities and their traditions.
