Metallica's 'ReLoad' Soars Into the Top 10 of the Billboard Canadian Albums Chart Following Reissue

The charts have reloaded, and Metallica is back in the top 10. This week, the heavy metal legends land at No. 9 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart with their seventh album ReLoad, originally released in 1997. The placement follows a special reissue of the album in the form of a super deluxe box set, which includes over 29 hours of material including demos, live performances and much more, spread across 15 CDs and 4 DVDs. It is also full of memorabilia such as prints, posters, tour laminates and an exclusive 7" vinyl of the album's biggest hit single, "The Memory Remains," which reached No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100. ReLoad originally debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the chart, upon release in 1997. Second to 2003's St. Anger , which reached No. 1, the double-platinum LP remained the band's highest-charting effort for almost ten years until Death Magnetic spent an impressive five weeks atop the chart in 2008. The legendary band's longevity has extended through the 2010s and 2020s, as they've since held the top spot twice more with 2016's Hardwired... to Self Destruct and 2023's 72 Seasons . The Billboard Canadian Albums chart is also celebrating Canada Day this week, with several national treasures re-entering the chart following the national holiday. The Weeknd has three albums on this week's chart with his greatest hits album The Highlights (No. 81) and After Hours (No. 98) joining his longstanding chart juggernaut Starboy , which is at No. 99 this week. The Highlights is a perpetual chart hit, with 276 cumulative weeks on the Canadian Albums chart. It's home to almost every one of his seven No. 1 hits in Canada, including "The Hills," "Can't Feel My Face" and "Blinding Lights." Most of those blockbuster singles also helped him become the first Canadian artist with seven diamond singles , and he later earned an eighth with his remix of Ty Dolla $ign's "Or Nah." The Highlights continues to be an absolute juggernaut, having remained within the top ten of the Year-End Billboard Canadian Albums Chart every year since its release in 2021, most recently earning a No. 3 slot for 2025. Canadian rock heroes The Tragically Hip also re-enter the chart at No. 52 with their greatest hits album Yer Favorites , which earns a staggering 394th week on the chart. The remastered album features over 30 fan favourites including the staple July 1 campfire song "Bobcaygeon." The album also saw a similar spike post-Canada Day last year. Fellow Canadian icon and singer-songwriter Shania Twain's Greatest Hits also earns a spot at No. 91, right as the singer ends her stint opening for Harry Styles' record-breaking 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium in London, which wrapped up on July 4. Twain is gearing up to release her new album Little Miss Twain on July 24, which she recently promoted on Later... with Jools Holland, appearing alongside the viral math rock duo Angine de Poitrine.
