Insomniac Games has dropped a new cinematic trailer for Marvel's Wolverine, the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive, during a Sony State of Play presentation. The footage trades gameplay for an action-packed montage that introduces a pair of key antagonists: Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth, while also offering a vivid glimpse of Logan's rampage through Tokyo.

Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Trailer Unleashes Lady Deathstrike and Berserker Rage in Tokyo Showdown

According to Game Informer, the trailer is a cinematic montage showing Wolverine taking on enemies across rainy city streets, atop a train, and in a snowy wilderness where Sabretooth appears. The video culminates in a showdown in Japan, where Logan faces ninjas led by Lady Deathstrike. Game Informer noted that Lady Deathstrike, like Wolverine, has the indestructible metal adamantium bonded to her skeleton, "allowing her to slice apart foes using the lo" (the report cuts off mid-sentence).

Kotaku reported that the story trailer reveals Lady Deathstrike as a major antagonist who "beats Logan severely," and that the game follows Wolverine and allies saving mutants from mercenary bands called Reavers. The trailer also spotlights what PlayStation (via PlayStationInfo.de) described as Logans "berüchtigte Berserker-Wut" (notorious berserker rage), with the outlet confirming a release date of September 15 exclusively for PlayStation 5.

"Can't wait for my PHYSICAL COPY"

GamesRadar+

GamesRadar+ observed that while the trailer reveals major characters, many commenters were more focused on demanding physical editions. The outlet noted that fans are less interested in talking about Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth and more about securing a disc-based copy of the game.

Polygon confirmed that the trailer also teases the appearance of a classic Marvel villain beyond the two named antagonists. The trailer, which Polygon described as showcasing key characters alongside a showing of The Odyssey, adds to the anticipation for Insomniac's follow-up to its Spider-Man series. IGN called the trailer "Ain't No Hero" and noted that it sees Logan grumbling through a voiceover about how his long life has made everything begin to blur together.
