Trial date set for February 2027 for man accused of planting pipe bombs near party headquarters before Jan. 6

Brian Cole, the Virginia man accused of planting pipe bombs near Democratic and Republican party headquarters the night before the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, appeared in court for a status conference. A tentative trial date of February 16, 2027 was set by agreement of all parties, with the judge reserving two weeks for the case. The judge also ruled that January 6 pardons do not apply to Cole's case, meaning he faces decades in prison.
