Lenovo has released its FY2025/26 Sustainability Report, revealing that over 90 percent of electricity consumed across its global operations now comes from renewable sources. The milestone was achieved through a combination of on-site generation and procurement agreements, with the company maintaining 36 megawatts of operational solar capacity, GreentechLead reported.
edie.net noted that the report marks the technology company's progress as it nears the end of its first generation of environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals. Lenovo is now focused on accelerating future impact, with Dave Carroll, chief legal and corporate responsibility officer, emphasizing alignment with customer and partner needs, according to edie.net.
The renewable electricity conversion took place between 2021 and 2026, GreentechLead reported, positioning Lenovo’s sustainability push as part of its broader net-zero strategy targeting 2050. The report also highlights advances in greenhouse gas reduction, circular economy initiatives, and sustainable product design.
Lenovo’s shift to 90 percent renewable electricity across global operations represents a significant step, though the company still faces the challenge of decarbonizing its supply chain and product lifecycle to meet its long-term climate goals. The current figures underscore both progress and the distance remaining on the path to net zero by 2050.
