New leaks hint Samsung's next foldables may nearly erase the display crease

Leaked footage of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra suggests the company may have finally solved one of foldable phones' most persistent annoyances: the inner display crease. According to PhoneArena, a leaked video shows a crease that is "barely visible," while 9to5google.com reports that the same hands-on leak claims to show the device "without a crease" altogether. If accurate, the improvement would mark a significant step forward for the Fold lineup.
"It feels like foldable flagships have peaked."
PhoneArena's assessment captures the excitement building around the Z Fold 8 Ultra, which is also rumored to bring a brighter screen and an anti-reflective coating. SamMobile reported that Samsung is bringing "yet another display upgrade" to the Ultra model, and SammyGuru added that the anti-reflective display could be a key selling point, though it warned that early IP68 water resistance speculation may not pan out.
"If this leak is any indication, the Z Fold 8 Ultra might just win me over."
The differences between the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Ultra model are also becoming clearer. Sammyfans.com outlined five major distinctions in form factor, noting that both devices share a side-folding design but diverge in size, camera placement, and likely hinge mechanics. The front camera on the regular Fold 8 is reportedly smaller than its predecessor's, according to a separate PhoneArena report.
With Samsung expected to launch both phones this month, the leaks paint a picture of a company refining its foldable formula rather than reinventing it. The near-creaseless display, if real, could be the most tangible upgrade yet, one that might finally quiet critics who have long pointed to the visible line down the middle of foldable screens.
