Summary
This systematic review and meta-analysis of 16 population-based studies from diverse world regions found that the pooled incidence of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is 4.79 per 100,000 person-years. Incidence and prevalence rise sharply with age and are higher in males. Only one study reported all-age prevalence at 19.13 per 100,000. The study concludes that DLB is a predominantly late-onset dementia with higher frequency than previously recognized.
