Summary
An unlikely collaboration led to Journey's Steve Perry re-recording the 1986 deep cut "It Could Have Been You" with Trev Lukather (son of Toto's Steve Lukather) and Nic Collins (son of Phil Collins). The project began when Trev Lukather and his wife Madison Cain-Lukather (daughter of Journey's Jonathan Cain) discovered the song on a road trip and were blown away by it. This sparked a chain of events that brought Perry back to the studio to revisit a track from his Journey days, resulting in a new version of the song featuring the next generation of rock musicians.
