Kane quashes rift rumors, says England camp 'complete opposite' of divided ahead of Argentina semi-final

England captain Harry Kane dismissed suggestions of a rift between manager Thomas Tuchel and midfielder Jude Bellingham, as the team prepares for a World Cup semi-final against reigning champions Argentina, according to multiple outlets including KFGO and the New Straits Times. The perceived tension stemmed from a brief post-match exchange after England's quarter-final victory over Norway, which Kane argued had been blown out of proportion by media scrutiny.

Kane quashes rift rumors, says England camp 'complete opposite' of divided ahead of Argentina semi-final

"It is easy to try and create this division, it seems like an English mentality, an English thing to do at these major tournaments," Kane told the BBC, as reported by GB News. "But it is the complete opposite." The striker, who is leading the Three Lions in their second World Cup semi-final in three editions, insisted that the squad's togetherness has been central to their run to the last four.

Yet, behind the public unity, there was earlier concern about chemistry. According to the Telegraph, before England's World Cup charge there was little evidence that Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane could actually play together. The outlet revealed that it took a secret flight to Madrid by Thomas Tuchel in May to spark a crucial rapprochement between the two stars, suggesting that the manager had to intervene behind the scenes to make the partnership work.

Kane's public dismissal of any lingering tension now appears designed to keep the focus on the semi-final, rather than internal drama. "The group is strong," he added, per GB News. England face a formidable Argentina side that won the previous World Cup, and Kane's message of solidarity comes as the team tries to avoid the familiar narrative of off-field distractions derailing a major tournament run.
