Rio de Janeiro state government suspends R$2 billion video surveillance program created by former governor Cláudio Castro

The program had already faced scrutiny from the State Audit Court (TCE) and legal action in the Court of Justice. The suspension is part of a broader spending review by the current interim administration under Governor Ricardo Couto, who deemed the program too costly.
