Google has announced a new feature called Video Remix for Google Photos that allows users to transform videos with AI-generated effects in just a few taps. Powered by the company's Gemini Omni model, the feature offers a range of ready-made templates to help users create stylised versions of their existing video clips.Video Remix is located in the Create tab of Google Photos, where users can access creative tools for editing and enhancing their content. The new feature lets users apply cinematic relighting to brighten darker footage, replace plain backgrounds with different scenes, and add artistic treatments such as watercolor, raw sketchbook and oil painting effects.Google said the feature can quickly transform everyday videos using AI-powered templates. For example, users can make a clip appear as though it was filmed inside a greenhouse, add a morning glow through cinematic relighting or give a video a watercolor-style finish.Announcing the feature, Google said it aims to simplify the video editing process for users who do not have professional editing skills. "Creating beautiful video clips shouldn't require professional skills or hours of editing. Now, with Video Remix in Google Photos, you can transform ordinary videos into share-worthy moments in just a few taps," the company said in a blog post.Video Remix is rolling out to eligible Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers in select countries. These include the United States, Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Turkey. The announcement follows other AI-powered additions to Google Photos. The app recently introduced new touch-up tools that allow users to make subtle edits, including removing blemishes, refining skin texture, brightening eyes and whitening teeth. Google has also announced an AI-powered feature that turns photos of clothing into a digital closet, enabling users to create outfit ideas and virtually try on different looks.
