Gehry Partners to design 6,000-seat performing arts center on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi

Summary

Gehry Partners is designing Dar al Funoon Abu Dhabi (House of the Arts), a new performing arts center on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi's cultural district. Set to open in 2030, the venue will feature over 6,000 seats for opera, theater, ballet, concerts, jazz, and outdoor performances. The building will feature Gehry's signature billowing forms and will neighbor the long-awaited Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, also designed by Gehry Partners. The project is launched by the UAE's Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.
