Gary Glitter, the 82-year-old former glam rock star already serving a 16-year prison sentence for child sex offenses, has been charged with four additional historic sexual offenses. The Metropolitan Police announced the charges, which date back to 1978 and allegedly involve a girl under the age of 13, according to Variety.
"The charges include one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13."
The Crown Prosecution Service said the charges comprise three counts of indecent assault of a girl under 14 and one count of unlawful sex with a girl under 13, the New York Times reported. Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, is accused of committing the offenses in the 1970s, adding to a long history of child abuse convictions.
Billboard noted that the disgraced star "has multiple prior convictions for pedophilia" and that prosecutors continue to pursue cases related to his abuse of minors. The new charges mark yet another chapter in a case that has spanned decades, as survivors and authorities press for accountability in historic sex abuse investigations.
