Asset Manager Franklin Templeton Opens Dedicated Crypto Division After Acquiring 250 Digital

"Franklin Templeton has completed its acquisition of 250 Digital and launched Franklin Crypto, a dedicated active digital asset management division targeting institutional investors."

Blockster.com reported that the new division is focused on actively managed crypto strategies for institutions. Christopher Perkins, a crypto industry veteran, will lead the new division as Head of Franklin Crypto, with Seth Ginns also joining from 250 Digital, according to Bitcoin.com.

The launch signals a growing appetite among traditional asset managers to offer sophisticated crypto products to large investors. By absorbing 250 Digital's team and strategies, Franklin Templeton gains immediate expertise in active management of digital assets rather than building from scratch.

"The deal brings the full 250 Digital investment team and all liquid cryptocurrency strategies previously run by Coinfund under Franklin Templeton's umbrella."

With Franklin Crypto, the firm positions itself to compete with other institutional crypto managers as demand for regulated, actively managed exposure to digital assets continues to rise among pension funds, endowments, and other large allocators.
