France issues decree detailing mandatory solar panel coverage for large parking lots
The French government has issued a decree detailing the solar obligation for parking lots that has been in effect since 2023. All parking lots of 1,500 square metres or more must be at least 50 percent covered with solar panels. The decree specifies how to calculate the area (including traffic routes but excluding green spaces, storage areas, and dangerous goods zones) and outlines penalties for non-compliance.
