From the article

Rising 2Ls, if you are interested in clerking for a judge and have not already seen this information, check out last fall’s Judicial Clerkships 101 slides and/or video for orientation. Then look at our confidential spreadsheets on judges’ hiring status about any judges in whom you have interest, to make a preliminary conclusion about when to apply. Please be careful to notice when judges of interest to you will start accepting applications from your class. Many judges are accepting applications now from rising 3Ls and alumni who have two years of law school completed, but they are not necessarily receptive to applications yet from rising 2Ls with only one year of law school completed. After reviewing those resources, most of you probably will want to wait until your 2L year to focus on clerkships. A live event early in the fall semester will reorient 2Ls to the topic and address common questions. Thereafter the appointment system will open for 2L clerkship appointments for individual advance planning. Meanwhile, you can browse our roadmap to the clerkship application process , including Positioning Yourself for Clerkship Applications . If you conclude you want to apply this summer to any judge(s) and if you’d like an appointment for review of your application materials or advising, submit a request through our online question form . Include an explanation of your timeline and a clerkship adviser will be happy to connect with you as needed. You can also use the online question form for any other quick question.
