Erdogan calls for two-state solution at Nato summit The Turkish president has told reporters at the ongoing Nato summit in Ankara that a two-state solution is key to a lasting peace in the Middle East. “It is incumbent upon all of us to ensure calm, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon,” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, according to Al Jazeera He said Turkey was ready to provide necessary contributions to clear the Strait of Hormuz of mines. Erdogan announced that Turkey had taken the necessary measures to reach ⁠Nato’s defence spending target of 5 percent of its gross domestic product by 2035. He said it had allocated an additional $24 billion to the budget ⁠for its Steel Dome air defence project to boost Nato’s air and missile defences.
