Elon Musk has publicly endorsed French far-right politician Marine Le Pen, calling her "France's last hope" ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Politico reported. Musk posted the endorsement on his social media platform X, according to multiple outlets.
"France's last hope"
The X owner republished a post claiming that Le Pen's polling numbers are surging to 36 percent, far ahead of her competitors, Le Parisien reported. This marks Musk's first explicit backing of a French presidential candidate.
The endorsement fits a broader pattern of Musk using X to support right-wing European figures, Politico noted. He has previously backed Britain's Rupert Lowe and activist Tommy Robinson.
A French outlet, L'essentiel, described Musk as someone who "n'a jamais caché ses accointances avec l'extrême droite" (has never hidden his ties with the far right). The billionaire's intervention adds to a series of political incursions in Europe by Musk, according to Le Parisien.

Notably, Musk had met with French President Emmanuel Macron in 2022 and expressed honor at the conversation, Politico reported, a contrast to his current support for Macron's far-right challenger.
