Dream Sports CTO Amit Sharma exits after a decade

New Delhi: Amit Sharma, Chief Technology Officer of Dream Sports, stepped down after nearly a decade with the sports technology company. Announcing his departure in a LinkedIn post, Sharma reflected on his journey at Dream Sports, where he joined in 2016 after returning to India following more than a decade in the US, including engineering stints at Netflix and Yahoo. "After a wonderful decade at Dream Sports, it's finally time for me to move on to my next adventure," Sharma wrote. He added, "What's next? I'll be building something cool again (obviously with AI). Until then, stay tuned!" Sharma has already listed himself as Co-Founder of a stealth AI startup on LinkedIn. Sharma's departure comes amid a broader restructuring at Dream Sports. Last year, the company reorganised its operations into multiple business units, with Sharma taking charge of its AI-focused vertical, Dream Sports AI, as Founder and CEO. Before that, he also led Dream Play, an AI-powered sports performance analytics platform that used video intelligence to help athletes analyse and improve performance. However, Dream Sports has since wound down Dream Play as well as Dream Money, its fintech business, as part of efforts to streamline operations beyond its core fantasy gaming business. Founded by Harsh Jain and Bhavit Sheth, Dream Sports operates brands including Dream11, FanCode and DreamSetGo. The company was last valued at $8 billion in 2021 and has been recalibrating its business strategy amid regulatory uncertainty surrounding India's real-money gaming industry. Sharma's exit follows another senior leadership departure at the company. Last week, Chief Marketing Officer Vikrant Mudaliar stepped down after an eight-year stint. Before joining Dream Sports, Sharma worked in engineering roles at Netflix and Yahoo in the United States, after beginning his career with L&T Infotech.
