Dennis Locorriere, Dr. Hook Co-Founder and Singer, Dies at 76 After Kidney Disease Battle

Dennis Locorriere, the co-founder and lead vocalist of the 1970s country rock band Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, has died at age 76 after a long battle with kidney disease. Rolling Stone reported that the band announced his passing in a statement, and Stereogum added that he died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 16, 2026. Locorriere, who had announced his retirement from touring in November 2025, was best known for the band's hits "Cover of the Rolling Stone" and "Sylvia's Mother."
