The first teaser trailer for Peacock and A24's upcoming "Friday the 13th" prequel series "Crystal Lake" has arrived, giving fans a blood-soaked first look at Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees. Multiple outlets confirmed the teaser dropped on Monday, with iHorror reporting that the eight-episode series premieres Thursday, October 15, on Peacock. The Playlist also pinpointed the October 15 debut date, aligning the series' arrival with the autumn season as previously noted by The A.V. Club.
"In one early scene, a horrified Pam stares into her bathroom mirror, covered head to toe in blood. The only part of her person not stained are the white circles around her eyes."
The imagery immediately evokes the original 1980 film, where Pamela's maternal rage drives her to murder after her son Jason drowns at Camp Crystal Lake due to counselor neglect.
"The footage shows Pamela seeking bloody revenge after the drowning death of her son Jason, setting up her transformation into the iconic killer."
This prequel focuses squarely on Pamela as the franchise's first and original antagonist, a shift that iHorror emphasized by declaring the teaser "makes Pamela Voorhees the main event." The series explores the events that turned a grieving mother into a vengeful murderer, decades before Jason would take up the mantle.
The project has been in development since it was first announced in October 2022, with fridaythe13thfranchise.com noting that "creative changes and a writer's strike created numerous setbacks" along the way. Now, with the teaser out and a premiere date locked, fans of the long-running slasher franchise have a clear target for when they can finally return to Camp Crystal Lake.
